Facts About the Prairie Dog
INTRODUCTION
Prairie dogs are rodents from the squirrel family that live in North America. They are very social creatures and live in burrows underground with their family groups.
Black-tailed prairie dogs are the most common and live in huge groups called towns. Usually, these towns only occupy a few square miles, but some towns can cover a huge area.
The prairie dogs come out of their dens during the day to hunt for food and they communicate with each other using loud sounds. If they are in danger, they will make a loud squeal to warn the others.
