Facts About the Cellar Spider
INTRODUCTION
Creepy, crawly spiders. We don’t want them in our house. Or do we?
We have tons of stories where spiders are heroes or portrayed as good to have around so why don’t many people like them?
What makes a spider a spider are their eight legs and two body parts, the ability to make silk and venom, and having sharp, piercing mouth parts. Cellar spiders like to live in human places, like your house, and are good for your environment. They can eat insects and other spiders that are larger than themselves.
They are even known for dancing or vibrating on their webs to confuse prey and predators. However, they are known for living in those areas we don’t like to go into– damp cellars, basements, and crawl spaces.
There are Short-Bodied Cellar Spiders and Long-Bodied Cellar Spiders.
